Salmon High School has experienced many positive changes
during the 2003-2004 school year. Our staff, working
through a collaborative effort with the State Department
of Education, completed the School Improvement Plan
(SIP) in October of 2004. As a result of data analysis,
climate surveys, and professional development the following
two goals for school improvement have been selected:
1. Any students who currently have performed below proficient
in the ISAT will increase their scores collectively
by an average of 2 RIT points.
2. Student class period truancy totals for the 2003/2004
school year will be lowered by twenty incidences per
year.
In an effort to improve student achievement and to reach
the above goals, changes include but are not limited
to the following:
1. ISAT classes will be offered to any student who has
performed below the acceptable levels of proficiency.
2. Emphasis will be placed on providing parents with
information regarding the importance of student ISAT
progress/performance.
3. Staff professional development will include collegial
and vertical team planning to monitor and adjust as
necessary the implementation of strategies used to realize
student learning goals.
4. Students and staff will continue their training in
strategies to reduce bullying and otherwise harassing
behavior and to improve school culture by adopting strategies
characteristic of the Montana Behavioral Initiative.
5 . Instructional strategies will be designed to improve
student awareness of the importance of good attendance.
6 . Teachers will be encouraged to take steps to reward
students for improved attendance rates.
The above goals are reviewed and revised on an ongoing
basis.
